ADJUSTMENTS MADE

Boley and Canty are back in the line-up.  That will give the defense more speed to cover underneath routes and screens.  This frees the other players to play the mid-range, deep balls better.  Also Aaron Rouse will start at safety.  He is taller and faster than C.C. Brown, and therefore plays the deep ball better.

The Chargers are a very poorly coached team, that doesn't deal with adversity well.  You need to frustrate them in the beginning, and they will be on their way home before the plane leaves the ground.  Their defense is weak, and all for show.  They will lead the league in dances this week win or lose.  Their offensive line is beat-up, especially at center, which hopefully leads to some good pressure up the middle.  The have a good running game that they seem to not know how to use, and a first rate crybaby QB with a big arm.

This could be another embarrassing week for the GIANTS D, if they don't get off to a good start or make the adjustments they need to make.  This Charger team throws it early, often, and deep.......just the challenge we need right now.

Antonio Pierce said this is the week...this is the game they need to win....a one game season heading into the bye week.  Hopefully the team leaders get the players in the correct frame of mind and they do their jobs.  Coach Coughlin was having a leadership council meeting this afternoon.....you know they will know what is expected of them coming out of that meeting.  Let's see how they perform.

4:15 eastern start

GIANTS still favorites

Hey Joe,

That has to be one of the most depressing losses in the last few years. We have become for the most part since the loss of Plaxico a mediocre (6-8) team.

We controlled the ball and we were able to move it well. I have a big problem with the play calling in our last possession. After the holding call we are on the 14 yard line with over 3:00 minutes left in the game up by 3. How do we not go into the endzone on 3 successive plays??!!! We were not going to burn out the clock because it was first and goal, the worst we could have done was have it intercepted and then if they scored a field goal we would be tied, and if we scored, well this one would have been in the bag. It is incredible to me that we threw a pick play pass at the line and them ran it twice. I have to give the loss to Killdrive and Coughlin. Coughlin was quoted in the NY Times today "you can second guess me all you want".

We have a very tough road ahead of us. The positive, we exhibited defensive intensity at the beginning of the 4th quarter when SD got the ball on the 20 and lost 16 yards on the possession. We need more of that kind of play if we want to get back to the playoffs.

All the best,
Ed Fox

I agree Ed. Everyone is blaming the defense for not stepping up on the last drive. With 8:00 left they were asked to make 4 stops. In the first three, they not only stopped the Chargers, but gave the ball to the offense on the +35 and the +4. There was finally some life in the building and although the holding call was legitimate they were still first and goal from the 14. They hadn't covered Smith on any big play all game, and Eli was the most accurate he has been all year. I think it showed us some signs of life, but the coaches need to answer for that one.
